Note that in order to create the best experience, the number of participants will be kept to 12 kids. To achieve this, and to keep the programme affordable for families, the programme fee has been subsidized by the GetReal organisation and its sponsors. Today we have two inspirational activists. First up is Luke Pollock. Luke is the Youth Programmes Coordinator for "The Peace Foundation" which has been active in disarmament and conflict resolution for over 40 years. Luke gives presentations and workshops on a variety of contemporary conflict issues to schools and youth organisations. He also organises Youth Peace Week for over 130 participating schools around themes like "Protecting Our Planet". Luke inspires young people to care about and come up with solutions for the 'big' or seemingly insurmountable problems like climate change, poverty and nuclear weapons.
Later, Amanda Chapman will address the group. Amanda does all she can to live a sustainable and meaningful life in Auckland. She loves tramping and exploring her own backyard and beyond. She set up NZ's first Community Fridge, a free food fridge which redistributes surplus food in Auckland's CBD and she is currently building her own tiny house on wheels.
Today's activity coordinator is artist and educator Charlotte Maguire who teaches art for children and adults in community education programmes whilst studying for a Masters at Elam. The children will be inventing for climate change solutions through a day of art and craft. They will gain an awareness of artists and designers making work around themes of climate change, and will then work with a variety of materials (eco and upcycled) to design and create imaginative prototypes for inventions that problem-solve issues around rising sea water and pollution.
At the end of the day, parents and caregivers are invited to come and learn about the inventions.

Each day - from Monday through Thursday will focus on a different topic (see below for details). Friday's activities will bring it all together, helping kids to reflect and decide on ways they can continue taking positive action and supporting causes that are important to them.
The programme runs from 8 - 12 October from 9 AM to 4 PM daily. Places are limited, so book early. Enrolment for individual days is permitted. However, preference will be given to those attending the whole week. The Friday workshop is only suitable for those who have attended at least one other day Monday to Thursday.
