Have you always admired embroidered items but thought those skills were out of your reach? This course is your starting point. Learn to embroider a variety of stitches on a patterned fabric & either frame for your home or make a small purse you can proudly show your friends.
You will be taught and guided as you learn, but with some freedom for individuality in design. You will have the opportunity to experiment with some specialty threads along your stitching journey.
This course is offered in two formats: a weekend course with sessions 10am - 1pm on both Saturday and Sunday, or as a longer course over six evenings.
You'll learn a variety of embroidery stitches on a patterned fabric (you'll have a choice of fabrics) and will produce an original piece of work (about 25cm square) with your own artistic input. This embroidered piece could be used to create an envelope style bag or potentially framed as an artwork.
This is a beginner level class.
Nothing. All materials are included within your course fee.
I have always sewn and embroidered, originally taught by both of my grandmothers. One was a tailoress and the other a professional embroiderer.
I graduated with a Certificate in Fashion Technology in 1982 from Technical College NSW, and a Certificate in Couturier Fashion Technology in 1983. I later completed a course in Commercial Needlecraft. I specialised in evening and bridalwear, having run a successful business for 10 years.
I migrated to New Zealand in 2001 and became a NZ Citizen in 2020.
