Yoga - Beginners

Are you wanting to harness the benefits of yoga but don't know where to start? Do you have concerns about injuries, flexibility and fitness? Join this inclusive class with a patient and experienced tutor who will show you the basics of yoga within the limitations of your body. Stretch, relax and feel good! Yoga helps tone, strengthen and revitalise your whole body, and helps you manage stress.

Description

Yoga is a beautiful and ancient system for integrating mind, body and spirit.  Our tutors work with the breath, asanas (postures), the chakra system (energy flow) and deep relaxation.  

Yoga aims to develop a strong body awareness and consciousness of ourselves in relation to the world around us.  Yoga is a non-competitive activity and each student is guided to work within his or her own capability, gradually encouraging each body to greater flexibility and ease.  Learn to manage your breathing for improved health and practise relaxation techniques.

Wear comfortable clothing and bring a rug or yoga mat. Venue: Selwyn College.
