This course is for learners who have a very elementary understanding of English and would like to improve their knowledge of basic vocabulary and grammar. NZ citizens and those with residency class visas: A government-subsidised course fee of $75 plus books will apply. A minimum of 80% attendance is required. Books cost $95. If you awarded a residency visa while you are studying with us, please let us know. You may qualify for a fee rebate.
Student's Book and Workbook
The books needed for this course are English File Third Edition Elementary Student's Book ($55) and English File Third Edition Elementary Workbook. ($40). You can buy these books from the office.
Level 1 Elementary: For those who know a little English. Learn basic grammar, commonly used English words and phrases, practise pronunciation, learn to listen better, increase your confidence dealing with English speakers.
Level 2 Pre-Intermediate: For those who can already understand and use simple English in everyday situations. Increase your confidence in understanding and being understood in English.
Level 3 Intermediate: For those who can usually understand native English speakers and can make themselves understood in familiar situations. Develop your confidence, increase your vocabulary and correct any common mistakes.
Level 4 Upper Intermediate: For those who generally speak with confidence and accuracy but need to develop fluency and the use of idiomatic English.
Level 5 Advanced: For those who are fluent in most contexts, but would like support in more specific or challenging areas of English.
English: general English - reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar and vocabulary.
Conversation: focus on speaking and listening to gain fluency.
