Hola, my name is Sergio Alvarez, I hail from Bolivia, and I'm passionate about teaching languages.
I'm an enthusiastic individual and I have had substantial experience teaching English, Portuguese and Spanish language over the past 10 years. I've had the pleasure of teaching over 1000 students ranging from early childhood to seniors.
In December 2012 I arrived in New Zealand and have thoroughly enjoyed teaching Spanish in language schools, in companies, and to private students. For some time I also held the position of Academic Director at Auckland Language Academy. Recently I returned to the University of Auckland to continue my own education.
My teaching methods are adaptable and I tailor these to suit the learning style of the student or group. Together with traditional written and oral teaching techniques I bring dynamic and effective ideas to the learning environment. I have had great success with the use of audio and video aids, role-playing, and real-life scenario tests to inspire and motivate students' learning.
"I would just like to pass on some positive feedback about Sergio who takes the Spanish lessons. He is a wonderful teacher and very engaging. I did some Spanish lessons at another night school about 15 years ago with a great teacher, and I thought I would never have a teacher that good again, but Sergio certainly is. I also like his teaching style, which is very focused on grammar. He is very knowledgeable about the language." Matt 14/10/19
