    Description

Come and learn more about some of Auckland's early colonial buildings from Fort Street up to Old Government House. On the way learn about some of the influencers of the time including Walter Lippincott, Sir George Grey and Logan Campbell.

We will identify the original landscape and the location of some of the earliest buildings including Logan Campbell's Acacia Cottage. From Vulcan Lane we walk up Shortland St to the University grounds, enabling us to visit Old Government House from where George Grey exercised early governance. We will consider the contribution of Walter Lippincott to the city's architectural heritage, before walking down Victoria St E and Queen St, interpreting the cityscape and public spaces, to finish at Britomart.

This tour starts and finishes near transport hubs.  The exact meeting point will be emailed to you upon registration and will be re-confirmed a few days before the tour. Please register before attending this tour as the tour guide is unable to accept payments on the day of the tour.
