    Description

    COURSE DATES

    This course runs for eight weeks. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 9:15 am - 12:15pm. 120 hours class time.

    We have not scheduled any courses yet for 2021. Please contact the office to express your interest. 


    ABOUT THE COURSE

    ThIs English Elementary Intensive course is designed to accelerate your learning. This course is suitable for English students at A2 level (Common European Framework Reference). With 15 hours of classes per week, students make rapid progress with reading, writing, speaking and listening. 

    At Selwyn Community Education, we offer:

    Course content:

    • learn basic grammar structures
    • learn commonly used English words and phrases
    • practise basic sounds
    • understand pronunciation rules and patterns
    • learn to listen effectively
    • study interesting reading topics
    • learn how to write email and short communications
    • practise grammar and vocabulary in useful situations
    • see improvement with frequent progress checks

    Please contact the office if you need to take a short test to find your English level. Maximum class size 12 students.


    COURSE FEES

    NZ citizens, permanent migrants: FREE tuition PLUS $95 for course books.  This course fee is subsidised by the Tertiary Education Commission and conditions apply.

    Temporary migrants: $990 tuition fee PLUS $95 for course books. If you are awarded a residency visa while you are studying with us, please let us know. You may qualify for a fee rebate on your current course.

    Refugees may qualify for a free course but will need to buy the course books. Please contact the office for more information.

    TERTIARY EDUCATION COMMISSION FEE SUBSIDY

    This applies to New Zealand citizens, permanent migrants and refugees

    The Tertiary Education Commission offers a fee subsidy for this course to qualifying students.

    NZ citizens, permanent migrants and refugees who are offered a place on this course will be offered the fee subsidy PROVIDING you can agree to the following conditions:

    • you promise to attend the full term (sixteen weeks)
    • you promise to attend at least 80% of classes
    • you prove your right to reside permanently in New Zealand through presentation of your passport or refugee papers before starting your course.

    If you are unable to agree to all these conditions, please contact the office to discuss your situation.


    COURSE BOOKS

    The books used on this course are  English File Third Edition Elementary Student's Book and English File Third Edition Elementary Workbook.  The price of these books is $95.00.


    IMMIGRATION STATUS

    Permanent migrant: student holds NZ Resident Visa or NZ Permanent Resident Visa

    Temporary migrant: student holds Guardian Visa, Work Visa, Student Visa, Visitor Visa or other visas

    Refugee: student has been personally granted refugee status in NZ
