Oil paints are a popular artistic medium. And for good cause - they're economical, archival (the artwork lasts a long time) and they are versatile. But they can be tricky to learn without knowing the 'rules' and techniques. Learn how with an experienced teacher.
If you want to try your hand at oils for the first time and get to grips with the basics of this rich medium, this course will give you step by step instructions to take you from the beginning to the end of a painting. Oil paint brushes clean up differently than acrylics or watercolours so you'll also learn how to care for your equipment properly for longevity.
During the workshop you'll paint two canvases (approximately A4 size) and you'll take home your oil paints set. We'll provide all materials for this course.
Your lunch each day. We'll provide tea and coffee. A painting apron or smock is a good idea.
This workshop is geared towards beginners; those who haven't begun painting and those who are self-taught and want to learn some traditional guidelines.
I just loved the oil painting class. The teacher was so good he enabled me to produce pieces that I never would have believed possible before the class or even half way through the first day.
The teacher was relaxed, encouraging, highly knowledgeable and able to communicate concepts and instructions, that are quite abstract, in a clear way. I came away with two paintings I love, but also new eyes, and a feeling of peace and contentment that is still with me days later. I can’t wait to sit down and paint again this weekend 🙂 October 2022
