    Description

    This course is aimed at ESOL students who want to learn how to write effectively and appropriately.  Students will look at both formal and informal styles of writing and will learn how to write clearly in a range of formats, including emails, letters, reports and essays.  Upon completion of the course students will feel more confident about writing in English as they will know when and how to use different styles and structures.

    Course Dates 2021

    Each course runs over six weeks on Tuesday afternoons from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM:

    1. Term 1 starts 2 March
    2. Term 2 starts 24 May
    3. Term 3 starts 16 August
    4. Term 4 starts 2 November

    Course Fees

    NZ citizens and permanent migrants: $10.  This course fee is subsidised by the Tertiary Education Commission and conditions apply.

    Temporary migrants: $50. If you are granted a resident visa while you are studying with us, please let us know. You may qualify for a fee rebate on your current course.

    Refugees may qualify for a free course. Please contact the office for more information.


    Tertiary Education Commission Fee Subsidy

    This applies to New Zealand citizens and permanent migrants

    The Tertiary Education Commission offers a fee subsidy for this course to qualifying students.

    NZ citizens and permanent migrants who are offered a place on this course will be offered the fee subsidy PROVIDING you can agree to the following conditions:

    • you promise to attend the full term (eight weeks)
    • you promise to attend at least 80% of classes
    • you prove your right to reside permanently in New Zealand through presentation of your passport or refugee papers before starting your course.

    If you are unable to agree to all these conditions, please contact the office to discuss your situation.


    Immigration Status

    Permanent migrant: student holds NZ Resident Visa or NZ Permanent Resident Visa

    Temporary migrant: student holds Guardian Visa, Work Visa, Student Visa, Visitor Visa or other visas

    Refugee: student has been personally granted refugee status in NZ.
