    Home Decorative Stones – the Art of Rock Wrapping

    Are you a collector of rocks ? Learn the simple but surprisingly satisfying art form of rock wrapping. Join us to decorate a stone using waxed thread and beads. Learn a variety of looping stitches to create an absolutely unique piece that can be hung on the wall, used as a paperweight or given as a gift. You can bring your own stone (from the beach, river or garden) and embellishments or use those provided.

    Description

    Rock wrapping is taking pinterest, etsy and instagram by storm. Learn this  simple and very satisfying art form. Come and decorate a stone using waxed thread and beads. Learn a variety of looping stitches to create an absolutely unique piece that can be hung on the wall, used as a paperweight or given as a gift. You can bring your own stone (from the beach, river or garden) and embellishments or use those provided. This workshop is ideal for those who collect stones when they travel.

    In the course you will learn how to start and finish the looping, you will learn a variety of looping stich types and how to add beads.  You will then be able to create other looped embellished stones at home.

    This is such an absorbing and low cost hobby. The combination of stone shape/colour, thread colour, stitch type and embellishments is an engaging hobby that can be enjoyed with no preparation and little cost.

    Learning outcomes

    • know how to start and finish looping

    • learn how to add beads
    • be able to create other looped embellished stones at home

    I learned this skill a few years ago and found that it was an absorbing, low cost hobby.  The combination of stone shape/colour, thread colour, stitch type and embellishments is an engaging pastime. 

    Nicola also teaches our popular Whimsical Driftwood Baskets course as well Garlic Basket in Cane. Nicola travels up from Collingwood to deliver these courses.

    What to bring

    Your lunch as we'll take a break in the middle of the course. All course materials are provided. If you prefer, you can bring your own special stone to work with during the course.
