Join Kirsty for a weekly English class with a focus on news and current affairs. This course is suitable for students with Intermediate level English.
Using newspaper articles, TV news reports and other information, Kirsty will introduce you to new vocabulary and New Zealand culture. This course will also improve your reading and listening comprehension for the newspaper and magazines. This course is focused on conversation.
Topics will include local culture, special dates in New Zealand, making small talk with kiwis, handling medical situations, the New Zealand education system, places to visit.
NOTE: This course offers a course fee subsidy through funding from the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) for NZ citizen and permanent migrant adults, their partners on work visas, refugees, NZ citizen and permanent resident young people aged 16+ who are not currently enrolled in a secondary school. We need to collect extra information such as age, ethnicity, educational achievement and gender for statistical purposes. You must also provide evidence of NZ citizenship, residency or refugee status if requested. A condition of accepting a course fee subsidy is that you commit to at least 80% attendance of your course.
For all other learners (eg visitor visa, guardian visa), the course fee is $140.
