Join Kirsty for a weekly English class with a focus on news and current affairs. This course is suitable for students with Intermediate level English.
Using newspaper articles, TV news reports and other information, Kirsty will introduce you to new vocabulary and New Zealand culture. This course will also improve your reading and listening comprehension for the newspaper and magazines. This course is focussed on conversation.
Topics will include local culture, special dates in New Zealand, making small talk with kiwis, handling medical situations, the New Zealand education system, places to visit.
For NZ citizens and permanent migrants, the course fee is $10. This is subsidised by the NZ government, through funding from the Tertiary Education Commission and is available to those who commit to attending at least 80% of classes. To claim this subsidy, you should have a NZ passport, a resident or permanent resident visa, be more than 16 years of age and not currently attending a NZ secondary school.
For all other learners (eg visitor visa, guardian visa), the course fee is $146.
