Think Talk: Health Inequality in New Zealand
Tuesday, 23 August 2022 7.30pm - 8.30pm
As a country we take a strange approach to health care. We underfund preventive medicine (public and occupational health), and we have privatised much of our primary and community health provision. As a result our hospitals provide acute care later than most people really need it – and our clinicians face the moral injury of next best, or least bad options for care, rather than having the luxury of providing best care for all our people.
We are serious and passionate about doing better with “vote health” – and have published extensively on this over the last several years.
ASMS is the union for senior doctors and dentists - most of whom work in our public hospitals.
