Description
Following on from the popularity of our weekend soap-making courses, expert soap-maker Jackie Ziegler is now offering a more detailed version of the weekend workshop.
Course outline
- Evening one: Basics of soap making. Equipment and ingredients. Cold process technique. Practical session: Natural Castile Soap
- Evening two: Fragrancing your soap. Different types of colourants used in soap making. Practical session: Colouring your soap
- Evening three: How does soap work? Chemistry of soap making. Practical session: Swirling technique 1
- Evening four: How to create your own recipes. Properties of different oils. Calculating the lye amount. Practical session: Swirling technique 2
All materials and ingredients are included in the fee. Included is a silicon loaf mould, which makes 400 ml soap, about four 100 g bars or eight small guest soaps. You'll get to take this home with you. Students will make a small loaf of soap during each of the four evenings. They will also receive four different soap recipes that they can keep on using after the course. Course materials value $50.

About your tutor
Jacqueline, having worked in IT for many years, decided to follow her passion for crafts, in particular soap-making. She has been making soaps and body products for more than 20 years. Jacqueline loves teaching and regularly gets positive feedback on her courses. She has been teaching soap-making through private classes and community classes for nearly 10 years.
