    Description

This creative arts therapy workshop is a chance to explore your expressive voice in connection with your body and mind, using visual art-making to map your experience. The session will include yoga, the singing of open tone sounds (and other voice activities) and the creation of artwork in response to how you experience your own voice. All elements of the workshop are invitational - you can choose to participate or not.

    Expected learning outcomes

    • An understanding of breath to support your expressive voice work.
    • An experience of tools to ground your body before using your voice.
    • An exploration of different parts of your voice (low voice, high voice), to bring variation to your vocal expression.
    • An exploration of yoga as a tool to release tension from the body.
    • An experience of therapeutic art-making to process your experiences during the session.

    Who should attend this workshop?

This workshop is for anyone who wants to deepen their experience of themselves through vocal expression. Daneil facilitates voice work that allows participants to develop their awareness of how their body, mind and voice interconnect. This creative vocal process will invite you to explore these connections in a therapeutic framework.

    What to bring

Yoga mat or something to lie on, a small blanket, water. Comfortable clothes you can move in.

    About your tutor

Daneil Cunningham is currently on clinical placement working towards a master’s in creative arts therapies at Whitecliffe. Creative arts therapies centre on creativity in the therapeutic encounter, utilising creative modalities within an established, nonjudgmental therapeutic relationship. Engaging in the creative arts therapies can benefit participants in a holistic sense, attending to emotional, cognitive, physical and spiritual well-being and aligns well with indigenous models of health and well-being.
