Would you like to learn Korean in a no-stress, exciting environment? This course is designed for beginners who are interested in Korean culture and wish to start learning the basics of Korean language.
This course offers a course fee subsidy through funding from the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) for NZ citizen and permanent migrant adults, and young people aged 16+ who are not currently enrolled in a NZ secondary school. We need to collect extra information such as age, ethnicity, educational achievement and gender for statistical purposes. You must also provide evidence of NZ citizenship or residency if requested. A condition of accepting this course fee subsidy is that you will attend at least 80% of classes.
Korean language for beginners aims to introduce true beginners of the Korean language to basic spoken and written skills in modern Korean. Students will learn Han gul (Korean alphabets) vowel and consonants and spelling. By the end of the course, through speaking, reading, and writing, students are expected to use survival Korean and carry out a conversation on simple topics of daily-life: greetings, introduction, going shopping, asking for directions, and so on.
Cecilia Kim teaches Korean cooking courses at Selwyn Community Education as well as language classes. Her warm and humorous teaching style has earned her a devoted following. Cecilia loves to share the history, culture and food of her homeland. Cecilia also teaches a Korean Language Continuation course for those who wanting to learn more. This is also suitable for those who may already know a little Korean.
