Sourdough breads are well known and have been loved in Europe for many centuries. Come and learn the secrets of making delicious loaves and rolls using rye and wholemeal flour and take home a sourdough starter at the end of the course. Course fee includes $10.00 for ingredients.
Please note that this will mainly be a demonstration with some student participation. You will take home some samples, taste a variety of breads, and take home your own sourdough starter as well as the knowledge of how to produce your own bread at home.
As making sourdough bread is a process that takes several days, Karin will bring batches of dough in all their different stages to the class for you to see and understand. At the various stages, the doughs require stirring, kneading or forming into rolls, and you will be asked to assist with this if you're willing.
Sourdough breads mature after baking and taste great even after a week.
