Kate Wright

    Home Kate Wright
Born in Auckland, Kate has enjoyed a lifelong interest in New Zealand art and architecture, particularly the intersection and complementary collaborative aspects of the two disciplines.

Kate has held manager roles in dealer galleries namely Ferner Gallery Parnell, Masterworks Gallery and Lightworx Gallery Auckland.

Kate has worked with artists such as the late Ian Scott, senior artist Robert Jahnke through to emerging artists, learning first-hand about their practice and work with collectors.

Career highlights include facilitating the sale of a major lattice work by Ian Scott into the collection of Te Papa and installing art late into the night at the Pah Homestead. Kate ran the retail operation for The Wallace Arts Trust meeting the many artists who exhibited there including senior sculpture artist Marte Szirmay, glass blowers and ceramic artists.

Her understanding of the secondary art market was learned firstly at Ferner Gallery and at Webb's auction house where Kate was the registrar for the art department.

Kate has a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Auckland and a Bachelor of Arts from Otago.
