Learn how to create your own design by altering an existing pattern. At the first lesson, we will discuss your design ideas and look at suitable pattern options on-line. You will then purchase the pattern to alter and tailor.
Learn how to create your own design and pattern. Or bring a favourite garment from your wardrobe as inspiration, a picture of a garment you would like to make, or a pattern you would like to adjust.
During this class students work with paper (supplied) and calico.
You will adapt an existing pattern, creating your own unique design, and tailor a toile (calico) to fit. We will discuss suitable fabric options for your finished design, but it is not expected that you will create an entire garment from drafting to completion during this class, as the emphasis is on developing and cutting the pattern, rather than finishing the garment.
If you wish, you can finish sewing your garment at home, or enrol in the Continuing Sewing Course.
Students should already have basic sewing skills and basic knowledge of garment construction.
