    Description

Think Talk: Raising Resilient Kiwi Kids

    Tuesday 16 September  7:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Mental distress among young New Zealanders has increased to concerning levels in recent years. Therefore, there is an urgent need to build resilience in children and youth as this is one of the most important preventative approaches to help reduce the later risk of mental distress. Resilient kids are better equipped to adapt to adverse experiences and flourish in life.

In this talk, we will take a deeper look at how resilience can be cultivated and explore some of the ways that parents, schools, communities, and policymakers can help to promote resilience in our children and young people and help them thrive.

About Dr Felicia Low, Senior Fellow and Head of Chloe Wright Policy Unit: Koi Tū Centre for Informed Futures

Felicia is a Senior Fellow at Koi Tū Centre for Informed Futures, an independent and non-partisan think-tank focused on complex, long-term challenges facing Aotearoa New Zealand. She oversees Koi Tū's work on human potential and is Head of the Chloe Wright Policy Unit, which specialises in translating robust research into policy actions and evidence informed decisions on child and family wellbeing.

Together with former Chief Science Advisor to the New Zealand Prime Minister, Sir Peter Gluckman, Felicia has published widely on issues affecting mothers, babies and children. She has authored government-commissioned reports with a public health focus. She has also made conceptual contributions to the fields of evolutionary medicine, developmental epigenetics, and the developmental origins of health and disease.

Please register for this talk so we can plan seating for the expected numbers. A small donation on arrival at the door is appreciated.
