    Description

    Course dates 2025

    This course runs over eight weeks. Each course has classes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays 9:15 AM - 11:15 AM. This is a total 48 hours tuition over 24 classes. Courses start:

    • Term 1 - 18 February
    • Term 2 - 29 April
    • Term 3 - 29 July
    • Term 4 - 

    About the course

    The English Intermediate Plus is a level specially designed for students on the ‘Intermediate level' needing more time to master the level, with a tailor-made syllabus to give them extra practice and support, allowing them to consolidate their language and improve their skills. This level increases accuracy, language level confidence covering Reading, Writing, Listening, Vocabulary and Pronunciation.

    During this course you will learn to:
    • Build confidence in listening and reading through exposure to a greater variety of texts and speakers.
    • Improve grammatical accuracy and range of vocabulary in order to express themselves more clearly and fluently.
    • Practice linking ideas, adding detail and giving explanations.
    • Learn to express opinions on more abstract topics and in more unpredictable situations. 
    Average class size 12 students.


    Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) fee subsidy

    This course offers a course fee subsidy through funding from the TEC for:  

    • NZ citizens;
    • Those who hold residency-class visa;
    • Individuals with refugee status;
    • In some cases spouses of NZ citizens and permanent migrants may also qualify - please contact the office to enquire.

    Conditions:

    • Registrants must be aged 16 years or older.
    • Registrants must not be currently enrolled at a secondary school.
    • You should at least 80% of your classes to qualify for a fee subsidy.
    • We need to collect extra information such as age, ethnicity, educational achievement and gender for statistical purposes.
    • You must provide evidence of NZ citizenship, residency or refugee status.

    If you are unable to meet these conditions, please contact the office to discuss your situation. 


    Course fees

    Qualifying learners: $35 plus course books $95.  This course fee is subsidised by the TEC (see conditions above).

    All others: $470 plus course books $95. If you are awarded a resident visa while you are studying with us, please let us know as you may qualify for a fee rebate on your current course.

    Refugees may qualify for fully subsidised course fees but will need to buy course books. Please contact the office for more information.

    Course books

    The books used on this course are English File Fourth Edition Intermediate Plus Student's Book and English File Fourth Edition Intermediate Plus Workbook. The price of these books is $95. You must have these books to participate in the class.
