    Description

    Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) fee subsidy

    This course offers a course fee subsidy through funding from the TEC for:  

    • NZ citizens;
    • Those who hold a residency-class visa;
    • Individuals granted refugee status;
    • In some cases spouses of NZ citizens and permanent migrants may also qualify - please contact the office to enquire.

    Conditions:

    • Registrants must be aged 16 years or older.
    • Registrants must not be currently enrolled at a secondary school.
    • You should attend at least 80% of your classes to qualify for a fee subsidy.
    • We need to collect extra information such as age, ethnicity, educational achievement and gender for statistical purposes.
    • You must provide evidence of NZ citizenship, residency or refugee status .

    If you are unable to meet these conditions, please contact the office to discuss your situation. The subsidised course fee is $25.

    About the course

    Curious about AI but don't know where to start? 

    In this workshop, you will discover which AI tools work for you through hands-on exploration. You'll test-drive the top AI assistants (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity), creative and productivity tools for both personal and professional use. 

    You'll spend time using AI to do practical tasks like writing emails, planning holidays, meeting note taking, researching faster, generating images, designing presentations and more.

    It is essential that you have basic computer literacy (web browsing, documents, copy-and-paste, opening tabs, creating accounts, email) before you attend this course.

    Expected learning outcomes

    By the end of this workshop, you'll be able to:

    •  choose the right AI assistant for your needs
    •  use basic prompting techniques (conversing with AI) to get better results from any AI tool
    •  complete everyday tasks using AI
    •  create visual content and presentations
    •  identify which AI tools are worth your time and money

    Jam Mayer is a seasoned digital marketing expert and educator with over two decades of experience. She runs two businesses and was a former lecturer in NZIE and Unitec. Her hands-on, interactive teaching style has earner her praise from students and professionals alike, ensuring participants leave her workshops with skills they can use right away.
