    Description

Throughout the day, students will learn techniques for applying collage elements to ceramic surfaces.  We will experiment with different themes, memories or abstract designs; to produce your own unique, display-ready art plates to hang on the wall (not food or dishwasher safe).  Emphasis will be placed on personal expression and experimentation.  All materials supplied but you are welcome to bring your own special collected pieces of fabric or lace/buttons/ shells etc that you would like to include.

This course is ideal for both beginners, crafters or anyone interested in collage type art, ceramics, mosaics, or mixed media. No prior experience is required—just curiosity and a willingness to play with a plate!

    Expected learning outcomes

    • Learn how to apply transfers to ceramics and where to buy supplies
    • Learn about glues and techniques for mosaic/collage
    • Leave the course equipped to carry on making similar pieces at home

    What to bring

    • Your lunch on Saturday. We'll provide tea and coffee in the staffroom.
    • Bring an apron to protect your clothing.
    • If you have any special pieces of textile/lace/crochet or jewellery you would like to include on your plate, feel free to bring these along too and we will see how they could be incorporated.

    Who should attend?

Adults, suitable for beginners as well as for those with a little experience or for crafters or artists looking for a new form of expression.
