    Description

    Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) course fee subsidy

    This course offers a course fee subsidy through funding from the TEC for:  

    • NZ citizens;
    • Those who hold a residency-class visa;
    • Individuals granted refugee status;
    • In some cases spouses of NZ citizens and permanent migrants may also qualify - please contact the office to enquire.

    Conditions:

    • Registrants must be aged 16 years or older.
    • Registrants must not be currently enrolled at a secondary school.
    • You should attend at least 80% of your classes to qualify for a fee subsidy.
    • We need to collect extra information such as age, ethnicity, educational achievement and gender for statistical purposes.
    • You must provide evidence of NZ citizenship, residency or refugee status. 

    If you are unable to meet these conditions, please contact the office to discuss your situation. The subsidised course fee is $15.

    About the course

    This practical short course for people who have English as their second language is designed to help you strengthen the communication skills needed to confidently pursue employment. Through clear, step-by-step guidance, you’ll learn how to craft a professional CV and write effective cover letters that highlight your strengths. You’ll also develop essential verbal communication skills for job interviews, including how to present yourself, answer common questions, and showcase your experience with confidence.

    By the end of the course, you’ll have the tools, knowledge, and self-assurance to navigate the job application process and make a strong impression with potential employers.

    This course runs on Wednesday afternoons 12:15 PM - 2:15 PM starting:

    • 11 February 2026
    • 6 May 2026
    • 29 July 2026
    • 14 October 2026

    Who should attend?

    Students with Intermediate, Upper Intermediate and Advanced level English.
