Description
Come and learn you’ll learn how to build depth, energy, and intention into your work. By the end, you’ll feel more confident stretching beyond familiar territory, refining your style, and creating bold, expressive, and innovative abstract paintings.
Throughout this course, you’ll dive into contemporary abstract techniques including layered glazing, rich textural surfaces, mixed-media experimentation, and dynamic mark-making. With a mix of guided exercises and open-ended projects, you’ll learn how to build depth, energy, and intention into your work.
By the end, you’ll feel more confident stretching beyond familiar territory, refining your style, and creating bold, expressive, and innovative abstract paintings.
Who should attend?
This course is designed for painters who already have some experience with acrylics and are ready to elevate their creative practice. Acrylics are wonderfully adaptable—whether used straight from the tube or blended with water and specialised mediums, they offer endless possibilities for expression.
What to bring
We will provide all materials but suggestions will be made should you want to bring additional materials as the course progresses.
About the tutor
Ekaterina is an abstract artist based in Ōrākei, Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. She completed her MFA at Elam in 2020.
