The Art of Flash Fiction

Home The Art of Flash Fiction

Flash fiction is a story told in under a thousand words. It is also the illuminated core of a much bigger story emerging from the darkness of the untold. But how can one narrative deliver another? The Art of Flash Fiction explores the craft elements of storytelling linked to the five senses and the ways sensory detail reveals what remains unsaid.

    Description

    Course Outline

In eight sessions over two days, the workshop pairs each sense with a core craft element — sight with setting, sound with dialogue, taste with point of view, smell with characterisation, and touch with plot. Through analysis and discussion, guided writing and editing, participants will leave with a completed draft and a practical toolkit that will allow them to continue working in this rewarding literary form.

    Who should attend

Writers at any stage who want to explore flash fiction, sharpen their use of sensory language, or simply find their way back to the page. No prior experience in flash fiction is required.
