I am originally from London where I grew up. I have always loved languages and studied French, German, Spanish and Italian – so I certainly understand what it’s like to study another language.
Prior to becoming an ESL teacher, I was a copywriter in an international Advertising Agency so have considerable experience in writing. But when I came to New Zealand in 2001, I decided Ito change direction and put my love of English to teaching it.
I studied Language teaching at the University of Auckland, and as well as an ESOL qualification, I now teach all levels from Elementary to IELTS, across all four skills (Speaking, Writing, Reading and Listening); I particularly enjoy teaching grammar too as I feel it gives structure to, and a better understanding of the language.
Over some 15 years, I have taught at various private language schools in Auckland as well as a short term in China.
I have plenty of hobbies too, including reading, cooking, singing in a choir and of course, travelling.
