Vivian Chandra
Vivian is an accredited personal safety kaiako with Kia Haumaru. This course will be taught using an empowerment self-defence framework that supports young people to feel more confident, aware and in control of their own safety. Kia Haumaru is a nationwide Te Tiriti led network that teaches personal safety courses right across the motu. We will go beyond physical techniques, blending practical skills with kōrero, to create a holistic session that help build confidence, communication and decision-making. The focus will be on recognising unsafe situations and using your voice – all in a supportive and inclusive environment. Vivian has a friendly down-to-earth teaching style and there will be plenty of space for taiohi to ask questions and try things out. They will build skills that will stay with them long after the course ends.
