    Description

    Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) course fee subsidy

    This course offers a course fee subsidy through funding from the TEC for:  

    • NZ citizens;
    • Those who hold a residency-class visa;
    • Individuals granted refugee status;
    • In some cases spouses of NZ citizens and permanent migrants may also qualify - please contact the office to enquire.

    Conditions:

    • Registrants must be aged 16 years or older.
    • Registrants must not be currently enrolled at a secondary school.
    • You should attend at least 80% of your classes to qualify for a fee subsidy.
    • We need to collect extra information such as age, ethnicity, educational achievement and gender for statistical purposes.
    • You must provide evidence of NZ citizenship, residency or refugee status. 

    If you are unable to meet these conditions, please contact the office to discuss your situation. The subsidised course fee is $50.

    About Chinese Mandarin Level 11

    This continuation class is designed for students who have completed Chinese Mandarin Level 10 at Selwyn Community Education or who have a similar proficiency level, approximately HSK 3.

    This course will help you continue developing your Mandarin speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in a supportive learning environment.

    If you are unsure whether this course is suitable for you, please contact our Chinese tutor, Dodo, for advice on your current level and course placement.

    Comparison with HSK levels

    The Selwyn Community Education courses from beginners to level 13. After the Level 4 course, you should be able to take the HSK 1 Test in Confucius Institute. After the Level 8 course, you should be able to take the HSK 2 Test in Confucius Institute. After the Level 13 course, you should be able to take the HSK 3 Test in Confucius Institute.
