    Description

    About the course

    For Intermediate to Advanced English students.

    Join us for a fun look at Kiwi culture. Learn about:

    • NZ geography
    • Sports in NZ
    • Famous New Zealanders
    • The Treaty of Waitangi
    • Pronouncing Māori place names
    • Māori greetings
    • Kiwi traditions
    • Kiwi colloquial language

    Meet other migrants, practise your English and get to know more about the kiwi way.

    Average class size is 12 students.


    Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) fee subsidy

    This course offers a course fee subsidy through funding from the TEC for: 

    • NZ citizens;
    • Those who hold residency-class visas;
    • Those personally granted refugee status;
    • In some cases spouses of NZ citizens and permanent migrants may also qualify - please contact the office to enquire.

    Conditions:

    • Registrants must be 16 years or older.
    • Registrants must not be currently enrolled at a secondary school.
    • You should attend at least 80% of your classes to qualify for a fee subsidy.
    • We need to collect extra information such as age, ethnicity, educational achievement and gender for statistical purposes.
    • You must provide evidence of NZ citizenship, residency or refugee status.

    If you are unable to meet these conditions, please contact the office to discuss your situation.


    Course Fees

    NZ citizens and permanent migrants: $15 (subsidised by the TEC). A minimum of 80% attendance is required.

    Temporary migrants: $160. If you are awarded a residency visa while you are studying with us, please let us know. You may qualify for a fee rebate on your current course

     Note: if you are enrolling in this general English course as a New Zealand citizen or resident, you may also qualify for a free conversation class. Conditions apply. Please contact the office for more information.
