    Description

    Learn the art of decoupage in this evening workshop. Decoupage is the art of decorating a surface with paper, and is a fun way to make everyday items special. In this evening workshop you’ll get to learn how to decoupage and will take home two completed pots that have been hand decoupaged by you.

    All materials included in course fee.

    Course outline

    In this one-off workshop you will learn how to decoupage two small terracotta pots using napkins. You will learn about what decoupage is, what you can apply it to, how to prepare your surface, and about different decoupage papers and glue mediums. You will then learn how to apply your napkins of choice to your pots using two different application techniques. Finishing with a top coat of water based lacquer for added durability. Different napkin designs will be provided, however if you have a design you would like to use feel free to bring it with you. At the end of the evening you will have two unique pots to take home with you.

    Expected learning outcomes

    • Understand what decoupage is and what you apply it to
    • Know how to prepare your piece for decoupage
    • Know two different decoupage techniques
    • Know the best way to seal your decoupage.

    What to bring

    All materials including two pots are included within your course fee. Bring an aprons or wear old clothing. Bring a hairdryer if you can, to dry between coats. A range of napkins will be provided but feel free to bring your own if you have a specific design you would like to use, please note that good quality napkins work better.

    Who should attend?

    Anyone can attend, no experience is needed, just an open mind. We recommend anyone aged 13 - 16 comes only if their guardian is also registered.

    About your tutor, Nicolette

    Nicolette is the owner of Dooney & Daughters, a furniture paint and craft specialist shop in Remuera. She has owned the shop for almost seven years and in that time has taught hundreds of people the arts of decorative furniture painting and decoupage. She is a strong believer that anyone can be creative and finds that decoupage is an amazing way to turn everyday objects into something truly special.
