Join mosaic artist Jo Luker and learn to create mosaic art using a variety of repurposed oddments including:
This is a very inspiring and therapeutic way to consolidate some of your precious finds, or items that can't be fixed but you can't throw away, fitting broken pieces together and re-creating something new to display again. Putting bits and pieces together can also tell a story and is a great lockdown project! All materials are provided (but you can also bring your own personal objects) with the emphasis on recycled and expressive art.
A substrate base (200mm x 200mm) with wall hanging fittings is provided - work can be hung indoors or outdoors (depending on what you add).
Your lunch, old clothes, apron optional, gloves (e.g. dish gloves or disposables to fit your hand). Any bits and pieces you would like to include in your artwork (focal images, china, glass, old jewellery bits). This is a messy activity so dress appropriately.
I have always collected random thing that other people may just throw away. I find that recycling broken china and old glass into mosaic art is a therapeutic way to recharge and escape from reality. I am inspired by the stories each little piece of broken plate or cup could tell, and where they have come from - this makes mosaic art very meaningful to me.
