Are you interested in writing poems for children? In this course we will be discussing, writing, revising and generally experimenting with the craft of writing poetry for children, including:
- investigating different styles and forms
- coming to grips with rhythm and metre
- playing with prompts and having a go at writing a poem in class
- tips for where to submit your poem, competitions and resources.
Expected learning outcomes
- Understanding the key elements of a children's poem
- Have an understanding of metre and why it matters
- Have learnt some techniques for making your poem the best it can be
- Come away with some options for where to submit your work.
