Join us for a fun and creative half-day weekend workshop where you'll learn how to make your own beautiful beaded and coloured glass earrings! This hands-on class is perfect for beginners and those looking to explore their artistic side. You’ll learn the basics of earring design, bead selection, and the techniques needed to create your own unique jewellery pieces.
All you need to bring is your favourite selection of beads (we’ll provide the rest—tools, wires, and coloured glass components). Our expert instructor will guide you through the process, helping you assemble your beads and create several stunning earring sets that are sure to match your personal style.
By the end of the workshop, you'll leave with multiple pairs of your own handcrafted earrings, ready to wear or gift. Whether you're looking to start a new hobby or just have fun crafting something special, this class is the perfect weekend escape for anyone interested in jewelry making!
What to bring
- Your lunch
- Bring along different colours and sizes of beads and swap ideas with others in our class. There are several outlets for beads, e.g. Spotlight in Mt Wellington, Ribbon Rose on the Mt Wellington Highway, and The Bead Hold (www.thebeadhold.co.nz) – which is based in Stratford, and they do online shopping and have the best selection of beads in New Zealand. There are lamp-work beads, pressed glass beads, flower beads and many more. Before you purchase your beads, please advise the store that you are making earrings so you can be sure that the direction of the drill hole is appropriate.
- Any beading tools you already own (there will be some available to share in the classroom)
- Pictures of any designs you like
Findings
Findings like shepherd hooks, head and eye pins, crimps, and fine chain will be provided in the class. If you have seen a design you love bring that along and see if we can make it or something similar. Other patterns and books will be available in the class. If you have any tools like beading pliers and wire cutters please bring them to our class. The tutor will also bring these which will be available for sharing.
