This is a follow-on course for those who have completed Speaking With Confidence (our introductory course) to continue developing public speaking skills. It may also be suitable for those who can already deliver a speech but want to improve their confidence and skills.
This course offers a course fee subsidy through funding from the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) for NZ citizen and permanent migrant adults, their partners on work visas or visitor visas, and refugees. To qualify, registrants should be over the age of 16 years and not currently enrolled in a secondary school. We need to collect extra information such as age, ethnicity, educational achievement and gender for statistical purposes. You must also provide evidence of NZ citizenship, residency or refugee status if requested. A condition of accepting a course fee subsidy is that you commit to at least 80% attendance of your course. The subsidised course fee is $50.
This course is designed to build on Speaking with Confidence, our introductory course. It builds on the theory from this first course with more in-depth theory and weekly opportunities to speak and get feedback. Your public speaking will be enhanced by learning an increased range of tools, tactics, tips and tricks to speak with confidence and deliver your message concisely, with clarity, and in a compelling manner. You will learn how to plan, structure, and prepare for your speeches/presentations, how to identify the key elements of a speech/presentation, and how to engage effectively with your audience so that you deliver winning speeches/presentations. It will also help you speak confidently in meetings because you will learn the key components of effective communications. Effective public speaking is a valuable employment skill.
