This is an advanced course in machine knitting. We will cover:
● How to dismantle, restore and maintain a manual knitting machine
● More advanced knitting techniques: using the ribber, holds
● Knitting simple garments
● Using a punchcard for decorative effect
● Using a knit leader to help design a garment
Equipment and some initial yarn will be supplied by the tutor. It is recommended that students bring their own machine (Brother preferred) so they get used to using it. If you don't have your own machine, please email us to enquire. The tutor may be able to provide a machine for you to use in class for a small charge.
Participants will need:
● to borrow/buy a knitting machine. I recommend a Brother 830/836/881 or similar to begin with as these are the machines the tutor is familiar with. Ribber is optional but good to have.
● Bring some 4 ply yarn to the class (acrylic is fine)
