Description

This course is for those new to sewing and will teach fundamental sewing skills. You will leave with your own kimono-style robe.

Expected learning outcomes

• able to thread and use a sewing machine
• able to read pattern instructions
• able to lay out and cut fabric
• able to assemble and sew your garment

What to bring

• 2.40 metres of fabric - natural fibres ony eg wool. cotton, viscose - definitely no stretch fabrics please
• a roll of matching thread
• 1 metal bobbin to fit a Bernina machine (unless you're bringing your own machine to use)
• Sewing kit recommended as follows:
• Pins
• Fabric scissors
• Small scissors or snips
• Tape measure
• Tailor's chalk or fabric marking pen
• Unpicker
• These items are all available in the sewing room and you are welcome to use ours if you prefer
• Bring your lunch. We'll provide tea and coffee
• Your course fee includes a charge for the preparation and supply of the robe pattern which you'll get to keep.
