    Description

Poetic writing and art are powerful mediums. This unique course will give you the opportunity to express yourself through words and watercolours with a focus on themes of nature. This could be seasons, flowers, trees, beaches, or a favourite landscape which has meaning for you. We will use words and watercolours to express feelings and emotions which arise from these spaces, by creating poetic and visual imagery. At the end of the day you will have used both words and watercolours to create atmosphere and feeling, in expressions which are uniquely yours.

    Course outline

During this course we will cover techniques for composing poetic writing, then the writing after which the participants will have the opportunity to read their work followed by feedback.  They will then work on illustrating their work, followed by sharing and feedback.  The process will then be reversed, with drawing impressions followed by poetic writing linked to the drawings.

    Expected learning outcomes

    • Create four or more pieces of poetry/poetic writing.
    • Create four or more drawings to link to each individual piece.
    • Have extended your visual skills in a style unique to you.
    • Work with language to create atmosphere and feeling.

    Who should attend?

Suitable for beginner poets and painters and well as those more experienced in one or other mediums looking for a fresh path to expression.

    What to bring

Your lunch. All materials ($25) are included within your course fee.
