Each two-hour session builds towards completing your very own C2C crochet pillow, blending skill development with practical application.     Expected learning outcomes

    • Master basic C2C technique: Students will learn how to execute the foundational C2C crochet technique, including creating the basic 'tile' and understanding how to increase and decrease to shape their work
    • Read and Interpret C2C patterns: Students will be able to read and follow C2C patterns and charts, which will enable them to undertake a variety of projects beyond the course
    • Colour changing techniques: Students will master the skill of changing colours in C2C crochet, ensuring neat and effective transitions essential for intricate designs
    • Complete a project from start to finish: Each student will complete a C2C crochet pillow, applying all the techniques learned to produce a finished product
    • Problem solving: Students will develop problem-solving skills related to pattern interpretation, project sizing, and colour-work, helping them tackle future projects with confidence.

    Course outline

    Session 1:

    • Understanding the standard C2C crochet square (or 'tile') and how to increase and decrease
    • How to read a C2C chart
    • How to read a C2C written pattern
    • How to read a C2C pattern grid

    Session 2:

    • Basic colour changes
    • C2C other colour changing techniques
    • Discussion on creating your own graph

    Session 3:

    • Pillow project (side A) using your own graph or the provided pattern

    Session 4:

    • Pillow project (side B) using your own graph or the provided pattern

    Who should attend?

    This course is most suitable for those that have completed the 4-week Crochet Beginner course or are confident with completing Slip Knots, Slip Stitches, Chains, Single Crochets, Half Double Crochets, Double Crochets and beginner to easy techniques. This is not suitable for beginners or those that aren’t confident in the stitches mentioned. Students with accessibility needs are welcome, however, may need to bring a support person - please contact the office to discuss your situation.

    What to bring

    • Crochet Hook 4.5mm (other sizes may be needed depending on personal gauge)
    • DK/8ply weight – At least four colours. Additional yarn may need to be purchased throughout the course
    • Mode Home Size 16 Pillow Insert (up to 41x41cm)
    • Stitch markers
    • Yarn needle
    • Scissors
    • Notebook and pencil/pen
    • Positive Attitude

    A materials charge within the course fee covers other materials including patterns.

    About your tutor

    Your instructor Amber has been crocheting for 28 years and is a certified instructor with the Craft Yarn Council and American Crochet Association. Crochet has become more popular over the years and is one of the easiest crafts to pick up with only needing a hook, a skein of yarn and a pair of scissors to start.
