Description
Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) course fee subsidy
This course offers a course fee subsidy through funding from the TEC for:
- NZ citizens;
- Those who hold a residency-class visa;
- Individuals granted refugee status;
- In some cases spouses of NZ citizens and permanent migrants may also qualify - please contact the office to enquire.
Conditions:
- Registrants must be aged 16 years or older.
- Registrants must not be currently enrolled at a secondary school.
- You should attend at least 80% of your classes to qualify for a fee subsidy.
- We need to collect extra information such as age, ethnicity, educational achievement and gender for statistical purposes.
- You must provide evidence of NZ citizenship, residency or refugee status .
If you are unable to meet these conditions, please contact the office to discuss your situation. The subsidised course fee is $50.
About the course
Come and learn about Indonesia's language, rich culture and historical background. With the growing interest in Southeast Asia, this class offers students a unique opportunity to gain insight into one of the region's most dynamic countries, to learn some simple phrases and cultural knowledge required to improve communication with Indonesians when travelling for business or pleasure.
This course is designed as a beginner-level course introduction to Bahasa and will cover:
- Simple greetings in Bahasa Indonesia
- How to introduce yourself and others
- Vocabulary and simple phrases for asking about food or accommodation
- Foundational grammar and vocabulary
- Cultural insights into Indonesian customs, traditions, and daily life
- A brief overview of Indonesian archipelago and regional diversity
About your tutor
The course will be led by Nurul Handayani known as Anda, a linguistics graduate with extensive experience in teaching Bahasa Indonesia. Having taught language and culture to expatriates at international companies and embassies in Jakarta and Bali for over seven years, as well as in Brussels, Belgium, Anda brings a wealth of knowledge and a unique, engaging approach to the course.
