    Description

    Explore the rich and delicious world of Japanese cuisine in this hands-on course where you'll master the art of preparing iconic dishes that blend savoury, crispy, and umami-packed flavours.

    Course outline

    • Bite-sized Crispy Pork Cutlet & Chicken Karaage: Perfectly seasoned and fried to crispy perfection, these classic Japanese dishes are paired with sesame-seasoned broccoli for a refreshing crunch.
    • Teriyaki Chicken & Japanese Rolled Omelette (Tamagoyaki): Savour the sweetness of tender Teriyaki Chicken, complemented by the savoury, delicate flavours of a fluffy Tamagoyaki, served alongside a light vinegared salad for balance.
    • Miso Ramen & Gyoza Dumplings: Dive into a bowl of rich, comforting Miso Ramen, and prepare crispy, juicy Gyoza Dumplings to accompany the soup, ending with a delightful dessert to complete the meal.

    Each class will guide you step by step through essential Japanese cooking techniques, providing you with the skills and confidence to recreate these dishes at home. Plus, you'll enjoy tasting the fruits of your labour and learning the cultural significance behind each dish. Perfect for food enthusiasts eager to discover the flavours of Japan!

    What to bring

    A tea towel each evening and a container for taking home leftovers. All ingredients are provided for this course and a materials charge ($45) has been included within your course fee.

    About your tutor, Chiko

    Hi, I’m Chiko! After living in New Zealand for over 27 years, I’ve found so much joy in sharing Japanese language and culture. I’ve worked as an event organiser, tutor, and cooking class instructor, and even ran my own catering service for one and half years, bringing delicious Japanese flavours to life. I’m passionate about connecting people through food and culture, and I love creating fun, memorable experiences. Let’s learn, laugh, and enjoy every moment together!
