Course Outline
Postnatal depletion is the state of physical, mental, and emotional exhaustion that can occur in
the months or years after having a baby.
It is caused by a combination of factors, including hormonal shifts, lack of sleep, low nutrition
due to pregnancy, breastfeeding, time and capacity, and a true lack of community support that
we often see in Western society.
This class is for parents who are in the thick of it, pregnant people who wish to plan ahead, or
friends or family members who want to support their loved ones.
Expected learning outcomes
In this class we will discuss:
- What is postnatal depletion and why does it happen
- How it intersects with (but is different from) postnatal depression
- Simple strategies to support yourself or your loved ones with nutrition, fluids, herbs,
- lifestyle, and community.
