Think Talk: The Bicyle Prevents Cancer!
Tuesday 24 November 7:30 PM - 8:30 PM
Active commuting – walking or cycling to work – reduces the risk of common cancers. In this talk we will look at the finding of a recent PhD study by Dr Win Thu, drawing on the UK Biobank data base, including over 250,000 participants. Alistair was one of Dr Thu’s supervisors. The study adds weight to previous research on the health benefits of physical activity. They found the effects of cycling were stronger than those of walking, and applied most clearly to colon cancer, kidney cancer and stomach cancer.
