    Description

This course will cover traditional cold composting bins, worm farms and Bokashi buckets. Participants will discover what to compost, how to avoid common mistakes, and how easy composting can be.

    Course Outline

All participants will receive a 50% discount voucher to order a compost system through our website, with delivery straight to their door. They will also receive a free rat trap to help manage pests. Auckland Council supports this workshop, and Compost Collective delivers it as part of our goal to reduce food waste and build healthy soils.

    1.  Understand the benefits of composting for soil health and waste reduction.
    2.  Identify which food scraps and materials can and cannot be composted.
    3.  Learn how to set up and maintain a cold compost bin, worm farm, or Bokashi system.
    4.  Gain practical skills to troubleshoot common composting problems (odour, pests, moisture balance).

    About your tutor

I am a facilitator in the compost collective. My passion for composting and sustainable living began through years of hands-on gardening. Completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Management further strengthened my understanding of reducing food waste and keeping organic scraps out of landfill. I enjoy helping people turn kitchen scraps into healthy soil and encouraging simple, sustainable habits. Composting with my family, especially teaching children how to recycle food waste, continues to inspire me.
