Sewing – Next Steps
This course is for those who have already completed Sewing for Beginners or have basic sewing skills. We'll start by making an A-line or pencil skirt, or simple pants.

Description
You will be developing your technical skills, and learning how to read and follow a pattern. You will complete your garment, and if there is time at the end of the course, you are welcome to start a new project of your choice.
Materials and equipment to bring for evening classes
In the first lesson, we learn how to take measurements and choose your size, begin tracing your pattern and discuss fabric and haberdashery options and requirements, so bring a notebook and a roll of trace and toile. A $20 pattern fee is included in this course.
Our sewing room is equipped with domestic Bernina sewing machines which are available for you to use during class. You may prefer to bring your own machine to get familiar with its operation. For further information, please call the office on 521 9623. There are scissors (fabric and paper), measuring tapes etc in the sewing room to use during class, but we recommend that you bring your own kit as follows:
- Tailors chalk or fabric marking pen
- Pins
- Fabric scissors
- Small scissors or snips
- Unpicker/stitch remover
- Your own bobbin to use in the Bernina (unless using your own machine)
Materials and equipment to bring for weekend classes
You'll need to bring fabric, pattern, haberdashery and your sewing kit on Saturday morning. A list will be emailed to you.
