    Description

    2025 course dates

    Each course runs over eight weeks. Each course has classes on Mondays & Fridays 9:15 AM - 12:15 PM. This is a total 48 hours tuition over 16 classes. Courses start:

    • Term 1 - 17 February 
    • Term 2 - 28 April
    • Term 3 - 28 July
    • Term 4 - 13 October

    About the course

    The English Pre-Intermediate course is for those with basic communication skills who can interact in a limited way on familiar topics at work and in the community. This course teaches reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar and vocabulary. Please contact the office if you wish to take a short test to find your English level.

    Maximum class size 12 students. 


    Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) fee subsidy

    This course offers a course fee subsidy through funding from the TEC for:  

    • NZ citizens;
    • Those holding a residency-class visa;
    • Those granted refugee status;
    • In some cases spouses of NZ citizens and permanent migrants may also qualify - please contact the office to enquire.

    Conditions:

    • Registrants must be aged 16 years or older.
    • Registrants must not be currently enrolled at a secondary school.
    • You should attend at least 80% of your classes to qualify for a fee subsidy.
    • We need to collect extra information such as age, ethnicity, educational achievement and gender for statistical purposes.
    • You must provide evidence of NZ citizenship, residency or refugee status. 

    If you are unable to meet these conditions, please contact the office to discuss your situation. 


    Course fees

    Qualifying learners: $35 plus course books $95.  This course fee is subsidised by the TEC (see conditions above.)

    Temporary migrants: $470 plus course books $95. If you are granted a resident visa while you are studying with us, please let us know. You may qualify for a fee rebate on your current course.

    Refugees may qualify for a free course but will need to buy course books. Please contact the office for more information.

    Course books

    The books used on this course are  English File Fourth Edition Pre-intermediate Student's Book and English File Fourth Edition Pre-intermediate Workbook. The price of both books is $95. You must have these books to participate in the class.
