    Description

    NOTE: This course is subsidised with funding from the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) for NZ citizen and permanent migrant adults, and young people aged 16+ who are not currently enrolled in a NZ secondary school. We need to collect extra information such as age, ethnicity, educational achievement and gender for statistical purposes. You must also provide evidence of NZ citizenship or residency if requested. A condition of accepting this subsidised course fee is attending at least 80% of classes.

    Course outline MS Word - The Next Step 

    • Footnotes and Endnotes with practice exercise
    • Section Breaks
    • Column work – ie newsletters
    • Inserting section breaks within column work
    • More clip art and text wrapping – if we find that students need extra practice of this
    • Creating autotext with exercise
    • Tables – if we find students need the practice as revision from the Word Beginners class
    • Drop capitals
    • Mail merge

    This course is taught on school personal computers.

    Who should attend?

    Participants must have basic knowledge of Word to attend this course.  If you are new to MS Word, check our website for MS Word Beginners courses.

    Prerequisites

    Basic Word skills.  You will already have familiarity with most of the following:

    • Formatting text
    • Spellcheck
    • Cut, Copy and Paste commands
    • Alignment, margins, spacing and indentation
    • Finding and replacing text
    • Headers and Footers
    • Basic Clip Art and borders
    • Tabs
    • Decimals tabs
    • Leader Dots
    • Tables – merging, splitting, inserting/deleting, sorting and using sumtotal formula
    • Beginners correction signs and manuscript correction signs
    • Subscript,superscript and strike through
    • Page breaks
    • Bullets or numbering
    • Watermarks
    • Layout of letters – fully blocked and open punctuation
