From Catherine: I must admit, I'm a little bit obsessed with colour. It's transformational properties can inspire, excite and calm our moods. Colour is powerful, it's one of the first things that grabs our attention.
My mother was extremely sensitive to colour. I remember going on regular shopping trips with her to find the exact colour to match her handbag or newly purchased items. She had an amazing eye for colour and pattern and knew instinctively how to put these together. She wore highly patterned and flamboyant colours, with flair.
Of course, I did rebel. My love of the murky, complex shades was the exact opposite to her adoration for the bold and bright hues found in her wardrobe and our home.
So, it was only natural that my childhood experience has led me to work with colour. I was lucky to inherit my mother's sensitivity, passion and confidence in colour and pattern.
20 years later, I am still here, working with colour, pattern and design, within the Interior Design industry. Teaching colour and design has enhanced my level knowledge.
I am always intrigued and excited, never bored.
