Joanne Luker

    Home Joanne Luker

Born in UK, Jo has always collected lost old shards of china and recycled broken pottery and old glass into mosaic art.    Jo is inspired by the stories each little piece of broken plate or cup could tell, and where they have come from - making meaningful mosaics.

Jo is an award winning mosaic artist, most recently winning a  Merit Award for her mosaic piece 'A Cross Section of Rangitoto' in 2024 at the Estuary Arts Centre Members Awards Exhibition (Orewa).  She was also awarded Frist Prize in the 2D (two dimensional - wall-hanging) section at the NZ National Mosaic Exhibition 2022, for a mosaic map of The Whanganui River, in Whanganui.   Previously Jo also won first place in the 'Reflections of New Zealand' category of the National Mosaic Exhibtion in 2018 in Orewa, and a Merit Prize in the Hibiscus and Bays Arts Awards (Mairangi Bay, 2017).

Jo has small art pieces in the Weka Gallery Shop at Estuary Arts centre, Orewa and Depot ArtSpace Toi Toa shop in Devonport, Auckland.

Jo is featured on the  Aotearoa Artist Magazine website :  https://thenzartist.co.nz/article/joanne-luker/
