Eda Tang

    Home Eda Tang
Ko Pupuke ngā wai i kauria tuatahitia e tōku wairua.
Kua ruia tāku kākano i ngā whenua o Tāmaki, nō te whenua Ngāti Whātua, nō reira tipua ai, rea ai.
Me he manu au, kua tiu mai mā Rererangi Marēhia ki Tāmaki Herenga Waka me te kōingo ka kitea tētahi rākau tūperepere hei taunga mōku.
I tapaina au e tōku iwi Haina ko te Te Tamaiti o Tūārangi.
Anei rā a Eda Tang e tū atu nei.

It's my pleasure to teach te reo Māori and facilitate the rōpū waiata at Selwyn Community Education. I share the responsibility that all kaiako carry to whakamana the living histories and knowledges embedded within waiata and language.

    About Eda:

Eda Tang is a journalist and writer. She was a Pou Tiaki journalist at Stuff NZ, telling stories of te ao Māori and other underrepresented communities. Currently, her writing focuses on disabled communities and New Zealand Chinese histories. She's a co-host of Āku Hapa! a TV show on Whakaata Māori that uses cooking as the waka of speaking te reo Māori in a fearless and hapa-embracing way. Eda is currently studying a Level 7 Diploma in Te Reo Māori at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa.

Eda taught music at Mid Bays Music School for six years and was also the Assistant Director of the school for three years.
